Access PA 2.0 Update from HSLC Executive Director
The Statewide Catalog (formerly Access PA database and also known as the PA Electronic Catalog) is a coordinated resource-sharing program of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
Comprising 22.2 million titles, including books, eBooks, periodicals, DVDs, and more, with over 73.3 million holdings, the Statewide Catalog was the first, and remains the largest, statewide bibliographic union catalog in North America.
Since April of 2002, over 1.3 million items, including books, eBooks, DVDs, journals, and more have been loaned throughout the Commonwealth. The Statewide Catalog does not replace strong, well-developed library collections. Individual libraries must continue to develop collections that meet the needs of their communities.
Currently, 2,538 institutions participate in the program:
- 133 Academic
- 609 High School
- 333 Middle School
- 814 Elementary School
- 559 Public
- 75 Special
